Discord's at it again
Sure sucks how every major communication site/app is constantly asking for more personal info.
Discord today announced that starting in March everyone worldwide will be forced into a "teen-appropriate experience" unless they verify their age via facial scan or submitting your ID. They've already been doing this in other countries with age verification laws, so it was only a matter of time before they decided to push it globally. Still fucking sucks, though! Shouldn't have to risk my ID getting stolen because of an inevitable leak just to chat with folks.
Seeing plenty of talk about Discord alternatives now following this news. I expect most will stay on Discord and deal with the worsening state of the platform (for all its faults, it's hard to find something that match its feature set) and hopefully find ways to subvert the age verification. Not where I'm at yet. Gonna depend entirely on what the servers I'm in decide to proceed. At least one is actively moving forward on an exit plan, so I'm ready to follow wherever they head, but the rest I assume will probably just ride things out.
