opulence piledrive

Finished reading Translation State

I enjoyed it! Lighter affair compared to the rest of Ann Leckie's work I've read so far. Saw someone compare it the Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers (gonna start the second book in that series soon) and I can see it. There's some similarities in how they both focus on a small cast of characters and their relationships to one another. It's less grand political drama/thriller and more... I wouldn't call it a romance story specifically, but it is playing around that space for sure. Fun book! Lot of heartfelt moments.

Hoping to keep the reading streak up more this year now that I actually have a reading lamp set up. Used to be a challenge to find a place that was comfortable to sit that also got ample light to read. We have to be very particular about how we arrange lamps and the like around here due to a lot of my family (myself included) having light sensitivity issues. Makes it difficult to just turn the ceiling light on since its position puts it right in the periphery of some. But I've got a solution now, so I can start working through more books.
